ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
What is Veda Vidya?
Veda Vidya (Course 2) takes learners deeper into the world of Vedic suktas and mantras that are less commonly taught but hold profound significance. This course integrates chanting, meanings, philosophy, and practical application — connecting eleven rare hymns to daily life and spiritual growth.
Across two semesters, students progress from interpretive orientation and six more accessible hymns in Semester 1, to the rarest and most philosophically demanding texts in Semester 2 — culminating in the Naasadeeya Suktam, one of the most celebrated philosophical texts in the entire Vedic corpus.
Unlike Veda Shiksha, which established precision and memorisation, Veda Vidya develops the interpretive, contemplative, and applicational dimensions — deepening meaning, discernment, and spiritual understanding alongside continued chanting discipline.
"Experience the transformative power of rare and powerful hymns from the Vedas, each revealing new dimensions of spiritual wisdom and cosmic truths."

Chanting Curriculum — 6 Mantras
~35–38 sessions · Pronunciation · Meter · Rhythm · Memorisation · Meanings
The six hymns of Semester 1 are selected as the more accessible and widely encountered of the eleven — providing an engaging and achievable entry into the Veda Vidya curriculum while building the interpretive framework needed for Semester 2. Handouts with Sanskrit text, transliteration, and English meaning are provided for every mantra.
01
Purusha Suktam
One of the most celebrated hymns of the Rig Veda — the vision of the cosmic Person (Purusha) as the origin and substance of all creation. Its wide use in traditional worship means many students carry some prior familiarity, making it an ideal starting point for the Veda Vidya journey.
02
Aghamarshana Suktam
A Rig Veda hymn for the purification of the inner being — traditionally recited for the removal of accumulated impurity and the renewal of clarity. Widely used in daily practice, making it accessible while introducing the dimension of purification.
03
Shree Suktam
A beloved hymn from the Rig Veda Khila associated with Goddess Lakshmi — invoking abundance, radiance, and the divine feminine principle of grace and prosperity. Its melodic accessibility and wide recognition make it a natural early text in the Veda Vidya curriculum.
04
Vagdevi Suktam
A hymn to Vak — the Goddess of sacred speech, the divine dimension of language itself. Explores the nature of sound, word, and meaning in the Vedic tradition. Placed here because it deepens the student's relationship to the act of chanting itself.
05
Anna Suktam
A hymn celebrating food and nourishment (Anna) as a sacred principle — the divine present in the everyday act of receiving and offering sustenance. Relatable context and moderate length make it appropriate for Semester 1 while introducing the Vedic view of the sacred in ordinary life.
06
Trisuparna Suktam
A rare Rig Veda hymn using the symbol of three mystical birds to express the relationship between the individual, the cosmic order, and the Absolute. Placed at the close of Semester 1 as the first encounter with symbolic and multi-layered Vedic interpretation — preparing for the deeper philosophical engagement of Semester 2.

THE PEDAGOGY OF VEDA VIDYA
Shravana · Manana · Nidhidhyasana
The three-fold process at the heart of Vedic learning — receiving, reflecting, and contemplating — runs through every session of Veda Vidya across both semesters.
👂
Shravana
LISTENING
Absorbing sacred knowledge through attentive listening to the Acharya — receiving what the tradition has to transmit with openness and without interruption by the habitual mind.
🧠
Manana
REFLECTION
Turning what has been heard over in the mind — examining it from different angles, resolving questions, deepening understanding until the knowledge becomes genuinely one's own.
🧘
Nidhidhyasana
CONTEMPLATION
Allowing understanding to settle into direct experience — the third movement where Vedic wisdom ceases to be information and becomes a living dimension of perception, conduct, and inner life.
HOW WE TEACH
Classical methodology, contemporary context
🔁
10-Times Repetition Standard
Every hymn is taught a minimum of 10 times under direct Acharya guidance — developing tonal precision, correct meter, and deep memorisation through the classical method.

Group sessions build collective rhythm, confidence, and the shared energy that individual practice cannot replicate. A defining feature of the Gurukula approach.
📄

Sanskrit text, transliteration, and simple English meaning provided for all 11 hymns — enabling accurate daily practice and deeper engagement between sessions.
📖
Contextual & Story-Based Teaching
Complex philosophical content is made accessible through stories, analogies, and examples — ensuring every student can connect ancient wisdom to the texture of modern life.
🔊
Audio Recordings Provided
